Interim Final Rule for Mental Health Parity & Addiction Equity Act of 2008
On January 29, 2010, the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor (DOL), and Treasury released an interim final rules on how employers
and health insurers must implement the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) for plan years beginning on or after July 1, 2010. The
rules reflect the departments? review of more than 400 comments received from employers, health plans, mental health services provider organizations,
advocacy groups, and the public following an April 2009 request for comments.
