United States v. Georgia

On January 28, 2010, the U.S. Department of Justice filed , United States v. Georgia, was against the state for failure to provide community-based services to people with behavioral health and developmental disabilities. The complaint noted that of the nearly 800 state hospital residents with developmental disabilities, many could be served in community-based settings, and were waiting for waiver funding to become available. Many in this group had been hospitalized because the state’s limited crisis stabilization services were unable to address the normal behavioral needs of persons with disabilities.
