Fact Sheet: Virginia’s Settlement Agreement With the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) & Proposed Plan to Implement the Terms of the Agreement

In April 2010, the Department of Justice (DOJ) expanded its investigation into the Commonwealth of Virginia's compliance with the Americans Disabilities Act and into the Central Virginia Training Center (CVTC). In a report submitted to Governor McDonnell, the DOJ argued that Virginia failed to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a way that is appropriate to their needs.
