ShareMemo From Miami-Dade County Commissioners to Local Governments About New Sex Offender Ordinances

The Miami-Dade County Commissioners adopted a new countywide rule that repeals numerous community laws in the county that restricted where registered sex offenders could live. For example, some communities had at 2,500-foot limit, which severely restricted legal housing options for registered sex offenders; as a result, many were homeless. The new countywide ordinance enacts a 300-foot child safety zone where ever children congregate. Registered sex offenders are not allowed within the 300-foot zone.
