NQF Evaluation of Inpatient Consumer Survey

The National Quality Forum (NQF) released its evaluation of the Inpatient Consumer Survey (ICS) measure in January 2010. The measure was designed to gather consumer feedback on their care experiences at inpatient psychiatric facilities. The questions, developed with the help of a consumer work group, are intended to probe consumers' opinions of their outcomes, dignity of treatment, preservation of their rights as patients, their level of involvement with treatment, and the facility environment. In June 2010, NQF proposed that the ICS be adopted as a reportable quality measure.
