Clinical Supervision & Professional Development of the Substance Abuse Counselor
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Substance Abuse Treatment released this Treatment Improvement Protocol to address the need for staff development. The recommendations are developed by consensus panel of experts. The report provides recommendations for both supervisors and administrators to help addiction treatment provider organizations adopt the techniques. The consensus panel said, "clinical supervision enhances the quality of client care; improves efficiency of counselors in direct and indirect services; increases workforce satisfaction, professionalization, and retention."
