ShareTexas Department of Family & Protective Services Automated Travel Field Test Evaluation

Participants were selected from the Child Protective Services and Residential Child Care Licensing Programs. These staff represent a mix of urban and rural staff. The Residential Child Care Licensing (RCCL) staff conduct facility investigations; the Child Protective Services (CPS) staff work with children in substitute care. The job functions represent a different approach to travel. The RCCL staff have tablet computers and the CPS staff have desk top computers. There were 17 CPS staff and 37 RCCL staff that began the field test.

The participants were asked to complete a pre-field test survey and a post-field test survey as part of the final evaluation of automated travel application.

Participants were dissatisfied with the accuracy of the address match results that were obtained from the reverse geo-coding software used in this application. The participants reported that 80% of all addresses were incorrect. Correcting the address was identified as the most difficult aspect of using the automated travel system.
