Judge Rotenberg Center Level III Certification Report
The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center (Center) received a conditional
one-year reauthorization from the Massachusetts Department of Mental
Retardation (DMR). The reauthorization specifies that the Center must
implement a corrective plan for its use of Level III behavior
modification aversive techniques, which include electric shock skin
stings used with abusive and aggressive residents. DMR noted that to
retain its authorization, the Center must address eight conditions related
to development of treatment plans and use of aversive measures.
