The Effectiveness of Prisoner Reentry Services as Crime Control: The Fortune Society
The Fortune Society is a program that offers services to inmates to help prevent another sentence. Fortune clients typically have long criminal records, very little
money, and depend on others for housing. The program was created to reduce homelessness and recidivism but recent studies have shown that clients have very
little success rate. A formal study was conducted and results concluded that less than 25% of Fortune clients complete the program. Fortune is committed to help
inmates after release but hopes to implement a better system to achieve higher success rates.
