The Cost Burden of Disease

In January 2010, the Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation released an issue brief on the cost burden of disease in the U.S. and Michigan. This brief includes data on the most common reasons for hospitalization, the most expensive conditions, the costliest procedures, and the costliest and most frequently prescribed prescription drugs. The brief also looks at the gender differences between men and women in the top ten diagnoses or each population at hospital discharge.
