ShareBucks County Contract Renewal With Magellan Behavioral Health

On January 7, 2010, Pennsylvania's Bucks County Board of Commissioners approved the three-year contract renewal between Bucks County (Bucks) and Magellan Behavioral Health (Magellan) of Pennsylvania, naming Magellan as the overseer of behavioral health services for the duration of the contract. The contract, valued at approximately $179.6 million, was effective as of January 1, 2010. Magellan will provide mental health, and drug and alcohol services for county residents eligible for Medicaid-funded care. Bucks County also subcontracts with Magellan to provide administrative and management functions and coordinate the organization for Bucks' Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation and Drug and Alcohol Commission.
