ShareU.S. Department of Education, Building on Results: A Blueprint for Strengthening the No Child Left Behind Act

The U.S. Department of Education proposed that the No Child Left Behind Act include science proficiency standards in standardized testing and that the federal government provide parents of children in low-achieving school with more options to improve their children's education.

A key proposal would give such parents a federal voucher to pay tuition at any public or private school. An adjustment to the supplemental educational support (tutoring) requirement will limit tutoring to only those areas where the school is not making progress.
