Joseph P. Naughton-Travers, Ed.M., Senior Associate, has
over 20 years experience in the behavioral health and child
welfare field. He has been a lead consultant with OPEN MINDS
since 1998 and previously served as editor of its
publications. In his career, Mr. Naughton-Travers has had a
broad range of experience in private and public sector
delivery of behavioral health and social services. He
started his career as a behavioral health clinician, working
in both child welfare and community mental health clinic
settings. Subsequently, Mr. Naughton-Travers held a senior
business operations management position for a psychiatric
hospital system and its community mental health clinics.
Later, he was vice president of a firm specializing in
management information systems and billing and receivables
management for community-based mental health programs.
Mr. Naughton-Travers has provided consultation to
provider and professional organizations, state and county
government, technology companies, and venture capital firms.
His primary areas of expertise include strategic planning
and management, market research and analysis, operations
improvement, OIG and HIPAA compliance, and information
system technology. His specialty areas of focus within
information technology include all components of IT system
selection, (identifying functional specifications, RFP
design, vendor selection and contracting), implementation,
and IT Department structure and staffing.
He has written numerous magazine articles on topics of
interest to behavioral health and social service
organizations, including:

information system technology. He received his Bachelors
degree from Miami University of Ohio and his Master's of
Education in Counseling Psychology from Boston University. |
