John W. Kuenning, M.H.S., OPEN MINDS Advisory Board Member & Chief Operating Officer, Metro Community Provider Network, brings over 26 years of health care experience to OPEN MINDS. His background includes planning, operations management, finance, risk management, and board development. Currently, Mr. Kuenning is the Chief Operating Officer of Metro Community Provider Network, the largest community health center in Colorado, where he is responsible for all operations and administration. In that role, he has created new program offerings and a stronger community presence for the center — in part due to his success in leading the development of strong community partnerships and alliances. Mr. Kuenning has built Human Resources Departments, implemented call center operations for patients to access all clinics by calling one central location, and increased productivity by over 30%.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Kuenning was the Interim Chief Executive Officer for Community Health Centers/Snohomish County, and the Executive Director for Austin/Travis County Federally Qualified Health Centers. Mr. Kuenning's leadership experience spans start-up, turn around, and growth operations. He is recognized for his ability to turn around under performing organizations and implement growth programs.

Mr. Kuenning received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix and his Master's degree in Healthcare Systems Management from the University of Denver. In addition to his work on the OPEN MINDS advisory board, Mr. Kuenning currently sits on the board of directors of four non-profit Colorado agencies: Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center, The Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center, The Eben Ezer Care Foundation, and the Colorado Community Health Network.
