John K. Connors, M.Ed., L.P.C., Senior Associate, is a
hands-on health care management executive with over 30 years
of direct experience in both the payer and provider sides of
the health care industry. His experience includes senior
management and leadership positions in business development
and operations for both managed behavioral health
organizations and provider organizations. In his work with
Cenpatico Behavioral Health Mr. Connors was instrumental in
changing the company’s focus after it was acquired by
Centene, implementing health plan contracts in Ohio, Texas,
Wisconsin, Missouri, and Indiana. He also played a key role
in securing new business in Georgia, Kansas, and Arizona
that resulted in CBH’s three-fold growth in two years to a
$200 Million company. With Magellan Health Services, Mr.
Connors initially directed the Colorado program before
transitioning to directing program operations for the West/TriCare
Division. In his work with and Mental Health Services, Inc.
(an MBHO developed by a group of community mental health
centers), he developed a small, start-up company with one
contract into an established organization serving over
150,000 members in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
Mr. Connors also has extensive experience with providers
both delivering treatment services and as a payer for care.
With Charter Medical, he was responsible for opening and
operating four regional outpatient clinics to serve patients
in their community. With managed care organizations, he has
been responsible for provider network development,
credentialing, contracting, and provider relations. His work
with providers has included contract negotiations, rate
setting, outcomes assessment, and network management.
Mr. Connors is skilled in contracting with payers,
including the Federal Government (TriCare, Veterans
Administration), state government (Medicaid, Child Health
Plans), and local (school systems, local grants and
funding). He has also worked extensively with private sector
payers including insurance companies, and large and small
businesses.
His work piloting the implementation of the Virginia
adult prison diversion program resulted in the successful
statewide adoption of that program as well as consultation
with the State of Michigan about adopting a similar program.
Mr. Connors was appointed to the Virginia Board of
Professional Counselors and received his M.Ed. and B.S. at
the University of Virginia, where he was a DuPont Regional
Scholar and a member of the Jefferson Society. |
