Glenn A. Smith, OPEN MINDS Senior Consultant, brings with
him over twenty-eight years of business and financial analysis,
information systems, and business management experience in the health and
human service field. For OPEN MINDS clients, Mr. Smith offers
financial, administrative, and operational management advisory interim
management services. He brings a unique approach in integrating
accounting, finance, and information technology functions to deliver
effective solutions for organizations experiencing financial and
operational challenges.
Before his career as a consultant, Mr. Smith was the vice president and
chief financial officer of Gateway Foundation. The Gateway Foundation
provides a range of addiction treatment programs for both adults and
adolescents in multiple states. In this role, Mr. Smith provided financial
leadership and facilitated strategic planning for the organization. He was
responsible for all financial reporting, building financial and systems
infrastructure, implementing financial controls, and designing a new
system for documentation of processes, policies, and procedures.
Mr. Smith started his career in Chicago as a public accountant
performing audits of small businesses. From there, he became the director
of accounting, and ultimately the chief financial officer, of Awana Clubs
International, a not-for-profit organization providing training for
faith-based youth programs. Later, Mr. Smith moved to a role the role of
director of accounting for The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, an
accredited undergraduate and graduate educational organization operating
14 radio stations and a book publishing operation.
Over a decade ago, Mr. Smith moved from his role with Gateway
Foundation to full-time consultant to organizations in the health and
human service field. Over that time, he has worked with all levels of
staff ? from boards, to management teams, to front-line staff. Mr. Smith
received his Bachelors of Arts in Accounting from North Park College in
Chicago, Illinois. He is a Certified Human Behavior Consultant and is also
a Certified CMHC Systems/MIS Consultant.
